- I am a graduate of the University of Evansville and was a key member of The Pit while there. I have yet to find a gym like it
anywhere. I appreciate my time there. I would love to have a t-shirt from The Pit for my son and myself, as he is now a high
school football player and avid weightlifter. Thank you for having such a great gym. It brings back memories.

- Back in the early 90's I worked out there. Now I am in the Marine Corps. I just wanted to say hi to the gang and ask one
question. Could you please take a picture o the national champion board and send it to me so that I can show my kids - thanks

- Hi! I just thought I'd comment on how jealous I am of your fantastic gym. I'm from Blackburn UK. I train the Coach Conner way thanks to his fantastic articles in Hardgainer magazine. Unfortunately gyms like The Pit don't exist in the UK, just steroid gyms and
commercial gyms. Been training 10 years now and not once come across anyone that trains the right way or any instructors
that teach the right way. Wish I could open a gym in the mould of The Pit, but that costs money I don't have. Guess what I'm
trying to say is I hope your members appreciate what they have. Every town should have a Pit and a coach Conner. Just
thought I'd get that off my chest. Many thanks to Sir Dick Conner. His advice has turned me into a 210 pound strongman
and plenty more to come.

- Hello, I'm an Italian Powerlifter, and I read over your articles in Hardgainer and in other mags. You are the best trainer I know.
Best regards,

- When you look for a gym to help you meet your personal fitness, health and strength goals, look beyond the building, paid staff,
facilities and even equipment. Total fitness is more than just going to a site 3 or 4 days a week. Total fitness is a life long
experience! When choosing a facility to train, choose a mission, a purpose, a personal experience that not only invites you
back, but inspires you to become all that you were created to be.
The Pit Barbell Club is more than a fitness center, gym or strength club. It's an experience, an atmosphere and culture that
promotes not only health, fitness and strength but a well being that comes by being a part of such a nostalgic organization. The
Pit cultivates lifelong friendships that is unsurpassed. When you join The Pit you join a devoted, intentional and coordinated
effort to help you maximize your potential fitness to its greatest degree.
When you enter The Pit you quickly sense the uniqueness of this Tri-state treasure. It's not only a place where bodies are
developed, it is an establishment that finds its roots in care, compassion and development of the total person. Though a very
intense, results oriented, and demanding training environment, it is also an atmosphere that is inviting and provides something
for almost everybody. If you want a life long training experience that goes beyond the squat rack or the latest training method,
then The Pit is probably the best place for you.
The Pit has a national and world wide reputation for championships and excellence. But as important, it has a local appeal for
family, friends and life long relationships that make The Pit the most appealing gym in the Midwest and in my humble opinion,
the country.
Congratulations on almost 40 years of service to the strength, conditioning, health and fitness industry. But more important
THANK YOU for being an institution that has been an extended family to one of thousands of others who were fortunate to
grace your doors.
Only once does a man of legendary proportions come across the national horizon like that of our own Dick Conner. Dick built
The Pit Power Teams into perennial state and national powerlifting champions and elevated the sport of Powerlifting to a height
never imagined. Dick and his partner, Bud Downen, created a legacy that cannot be explained, but must be experienced to truly
understand the greatness of the place we simply call The Pit.
Pat Tyring and his ownership team have now continued the excellence that has become a local factory for producing excellence
in all who train at The Pit.

- I left Evansville in 1992 to go back to college in Boston but was an avid member from 1986-1992. Wow! To see Bud and
Dick again after so long brings to me a special kind of comfort. I can remember walking into the Edgar street gym on
January 3, 1986 and the smell of B.O., the feel of immense heat, and really big guys everywhere almost made me turn
around and walk back out the door. But I stayed and then signed in. The rest is history. I love the weights, without
them, I would be lost in life. And all thanks to Uncle Bud, Dick and my friend Adam Hall that talked me into signing up! I'm
50 now, and can still remember watching Bud do bicep curls to failure when he was my age now. What a trooper. Love you Bud.
A hard but fair man. God Bless Everyone!
